Chhattisgarh NEET PG Counselling Process
A step-by-step walkthrough of registration, choice filling, allotment and reporting
1. Online registration
- Visit the official portal: cgdme.admissions.nic.in → Notices / NEET PG section → click “Online Registration”.
- Enter NEET details, personal info, academic history, category and domicile info. Upload scanned documents in the prescribed formats.
- Pay the registration fee. Save the fee payment receipt and the final “registration successful” acknowledgement PDF.
2. Document verification
- Online verification at registration: Upload scanned documents during registration; the portal flags missing/incorrect uploads and often issues a provisional verification status. This initial check filters out clearly invalid entries.
- Physical verification: Some rounds or categories require in-person verification at a designated centre or at the allotted college at reporting time. The state information bulletin / round notice lists physical verification dates, centres and required original documents.
3. Merit list & state rank
The state merit list is created from NEET PG marks adjusted for applicable state eligibility rules and the reservation roster. CGDME publishes a provisional merit list with the candidate’s name, NEET rank/state rank and category before choice filling.
4. Choice filling & Locking
- Fill as many realistic choices as allowed there’s usually no penalty for filling more options; it increases your chance to get the best available seat according to your rank.
- Lock choices before the deadline. If you do not lock, DME portal will either (a) not consider your choices, or (b) auto-lock the last-saved list, which may be incomplete. Manual locking is safest.
- Use the official seat matrix PDF published on the portal to check specialty availability in each institute before you rank.
5. Seat allotment
- The state allotment engine assigns seats based on: NEET score, candidate’s locked choices in their preference order, reservation rules and seat-matrix availability. CGDME publishes the allotment list.
- The allotment PDF includes the allotted institute & specialty, reporting deadline (date/time), whether reporting requires physical verification and the list of documents to carry.
- If you don’t get a seat in round 1: You remain eligible for subsequent rounds if the rules permit, you will usually be able to re-submit choices for next rounds.
6. Reporting & admission
- Go to the allotted institute within the strict deadline shown in the allotment notice. Carry original documents, one set of photocopies, allotment letter and fee payment proof. Institutes issue an admission/joining letter once everything is verified and fee is paid.
- If you fail to report by deadline, the seat is forfeited and allocated to next candidate as per roster; refunds and re-admission rules depend on CGDME/institute policy.
- Some states allow candidates who accept & join a seat to appear for subsequent rounds for upgradation; others treat joining as final and you may only be eligible for stray rounds. The exact rule for Chhattisgarh is in the Information Bulletin / Rules & Regulations on the CGDME portal.
7. Subsequent rounds
- After main rounds, unfilled seats move to mop-up/stray vacancy rounds. The portal publishes fresh seat-matrix PDFs for each round. Candidates who are still eligible based on state rules and prior acceptance status can register again, fill choices and participate.

Chhattisgarh NEET PG Counselling Rounds
Quick overview of Round 1, Round 2, mop-up and stray vacancy rounds, when they happen and who should participate.
Round 1
The first and primary allotment round where state merit, locked preferences and the published seat-matrix determine initial seats. Candidates must register, fill & lock choices within the deadline and download the allotment order if selected. Reporting to the allotted institute with original documents, usually within 3–7 days, confirms admission or leads to forfeiture.
Round 2
A second full allotment that uses remaining seats after Round 1 and any surrendered/returned seats as well as the fresh/retained choices of eligible candidates. It gives another chance to those who were not allotted earlier and to some who wish to upgrade. Allotment, reporting deadlines and seat-matrix are re-published.
Mop-up Round
A focused round to fill vacancies left after the main rounds, which often includes seats from management/NRI pools or those freed by withdrawals. Candidates usually require fresh registration and may need physical verification; the mop-up is stricter about documentation and quotas. Seats allotted here are typically nearer to the final allocation.
Stray vacancy Round
Last stage round to fill any stray/unfilled seats with simplified, fast timelines and updated seat lists. These rounds can allow walk-in or portal-based participation depending on the state notice; participating institutes and specialty availability are published as separate PDFs. Stray rounds are generally final, admissions made here are provisional subject to immediate verification and institute rules.
